I want you to be who you are

I was only in elementary school when I learned the price of being yourself. I got bullied because of it which is why I know it's not easy. But I always felt it was the best way to go because no matter what, there was still bound to be a person out there who didn't like me. During the years I saw that peer pressure came in many forms and it affected so many people. You have no idea how many times in my life I have given this same talk to a friend, hoping to make them realize that being yourself is a price to pay but nothing makes you happier in the end.

So many times I heard the stories of how people became unhappy from trying to please everyone and how they lost themselves because of it. And so many times I heard people tell me how envious they were of me because I could draw what I wanted, talk the way I wanted and be who I was, and at the end of the day go to bed feeling proud of myself.

So I wanted to draw a comic where I tell this exact same life rule that I have shared since I can remember. Hoping that it will help some of you guys.



P.S. I know I have given this same speech to a few of my friends recently but I want you to know this comic is not just about our talk. I have given this speech many times and I have given it so many times because after years and years of living my life I still see that this is the only way to live your life. So, you know, don't worry, the handsome fella without the hair is not you. Your hair looks fabulous.

Anyway:
I want you people to know that you're not the only one who suffer from peer pressure's effects. And I want you to know that it is never pathetic, especially if you aim to change the way you live. So be yourself. Love the person you are. And further more: If there's some person out there, whether they are your neighbor, classmate, friend or just some crazy guy living in a dumpster and they don't like who you are, then that person can go jump in the lake because they don't deserve someone like you in their life. The only person whose opinion matters, is the one who wants you to be who you are.
